Welcome

Delivering a strong contribution to the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad programme, and ensuring that our cultural communities are fully involved, is one of the most important aspects to the delivery of A Carnival of Culture, Yorkshire Gold’s cultural opportunity leading up to London 2012.

London’s 2012 Olympic bid included a commitment to create a unique cultural programme leading up to the Games and to bring sport and culture together ‘like never before’.

The Cultural Olympiad will feature activities happening across the UK. The Yorkshire region will be heavily involved through our Inspire Programme and a series of Major Projects that are planned, all driven by our signature programme, imove.

Open Weekend

London 2012 Open Weekend on July 23rd to 25th 2010 will be an opportunity for people in Yorkshire to join the UK celebrations and show what our region has to offer in terms of culture and participation.

Engaging young people

Involving and inspiring young people is a key aim of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Find out more about Yorkshire’s plans for engaging young people.
